Myndgard Discover ยท For students on the waitlist

Something useful to start while waiting.

Myndgard Discover is a short daily programme on understanding emotions for university students on the counselling waitlist: students sign up with their college email and start straight away, and the university sees only anonymous, cohort-level figures.

Waiting for a first counselling appointment can feel like a long time. Discover gives students something useful to start straight away and move through at their own pace.

What it is

A short daily programme about emotions.

Each day has a few short reading modules, most of which students can also listen to as audio, an optional check-in and a practical exercise to try.

The programme moves from noticing emotions to working with them: stress responses and early signals, what different emotions are signalling, thought traps and balanced reframes, small actions for getting unstuck, and sleep, movement and habits. It ends with students putting together their own toolkit from what worked for them.

  • Self-paced: the next day opens once the current one is finished
  • Short quizzes along the way to check what has stuck
  • An optional daily reminder, at a time that suits the student

How students join

Sign up with a college email.

Discover is part of a stepped-care approach: a low-intensity first step students on the waitlist can take on their own, without needing counsellor time. It sits alongside the counselling service, not in place of it.

  1. The university offers Discover

The counselling service lets students on its waitlist know that Discover is available to them.

  2. Students sign up themselves

They create an account with their college email address, which connects them to their university's programme automatically.

  3. They start the first day

The programme opens straight away, and they move through it at their own pace.

Students can only create an account if their university is using Myndgard Discover.

What the university sees

Anonymous, cohort-level figures only.

The university sees how many students have registered and how far, on average, the group has progressed. That is all.

Not who has joined

University staff cannot see which students have registered.

Not what anyone writes

Staff can never read an individual student's check-ins or reflections.

Not individual progress

Staff cannot see how far an individual student has got through the programme.

Privacy

What students write is theirs.

Encrypted

Check-ins, reflections and exercise responses are encrypted in the database, and all traffic is encrypted in transit. Each university's data is kept separate from every other university's.

No ads, no tracking

There is no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking in the app, and we do not sell or share student data for marketing.

In the student's hands

Students can export their data or delete their account at any time from Settings in the app.

Please note

Discover is an educational programme.

It does not diagnose or treat any condition, and it is not a substitute for professional care or for the university's counselling service. A crisis support screen with helpline numbers is available from every part of the app. Anyone in danger or needing urgent help should call 112 or 999, or Samaritans free on 116 123 at any time.

Who is Myndgard Discover for?

University and college students who are on the counselling waitlist, waiting for their first appointment, at universities that offer Discover.

What can the university see?

Is Myndgard Discover therapy or an emergency service?

No. Discover is an educational programme. It does not diagnose or treat any condition and is not a substitute for professional care or for the university's counselling service. Is Discover connected to Myndgard Share?

No. Myndgard Discover and Myndgard Share are independent products. A counselling service can offer either one, or both.

For students already in counselling, Myndgard Share is a separate product that keeps them connected with their counsellor between sessions. Read more on the Myndgard blog.
